EU-parlamentet bannar medlemsländerna för bristande stöd till Ukraina

EU-parlamentet röstade i går torsdag för att skjuta upp ett beslut om att ge ministerrådet ansvarsfrihet för 2022 års räkenskaper. Beslutet motiverades dels med kritik mot att medlemsländerna dröjer med att förse Ukraina med luftvärnssystem. Omröstningen är dock mest symbolisk. Sedan 2009 har EU-parlamentet vägrat ministerrådet ansvarsfrihet. Anledningen är en mångårig tvist där parlamentet och råden gör olika tolkningar av regelverket kring ansvarsfriheten och parlamentets roll i att granska hur råden hanterar sin budget. Unionens övriga institutioner och byråer fick under torsdagen ansvarsfrihet av EU-parlamentet.
